Kirsty’s journey into yoga began by a chance discovery of The Yoga Barn, where she was
introduced to the Ashtanga Primary Series. Over time, she adopted a regular and
dedicated practice, laying the foundations for her ongoing exploration of yoga.
Kirsty completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Studio 70 with Julia Clarke E-
RYT 500 and a team of specialised teachers, forging connections that extended beyond
the training. Here she further developed her understanding of anatomy and physiology,
as well as deepening her practice of Pranayama, the study of Sanskrit and exploration of
the subtle body through teachings with Laura Gonzalez. Additionally, she engaged in
critical discussions on the decolonisation of yoga with Kallie Schut, gaining valuable
insight into the cultural and historical context of the practice.
Drawn to Ashtanga yoga for its structured, dynamic approach, Kirsty loves the balance
the practice offers - creating a sense of order while allowing space for personal
exploration. Over time, Ashtanga challenged both body and mind, and became a way for
her to cultivate stillness and acceptance beyond the mat. Through her teaching, Kirsty
aims to hold space for those who might need just that, with classes blending the
traditional Ashtanga sequence with a greater sense of fluidity.
Kirsty is currently training as an Ayurvedic practitioner with The School of Ayurveda,
allowing her to offer practices that are attuned to the changing rhythms of life, and
provide her students the tools to create balance in both mind and body.
Whether you're new to yoga or seeking to deepen your practice, Kirsty’s classes at The
Yoga Barn offer a nurturing and encouraging space to explore your own potential,
supported by the same vibrant community that shaped her own journey.
